DIAGNOSIS OF THE GEOMETRIC STATE OF THE “PUNTA LUCRECIA” LIGHTHOUSE TOWER USING HIGH-DEFINITION TOPOGRAPHY
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research presents the results obtained from the use of high-definition surveying (HDS) implemented with a Leica P40 laser scanner to evaluate the geometric condition of the Punta Lucrecia lighthouse tower located in the municipality of Banes, Holguín province, Cuba. A dense point cloud was generated from 42 parking areas and processed using Leica Cyclone software (for registration, cleaning, filtering, and unification) and 3DReshaper software (for geometric analysis).
The methodology designed by the authors for diagnosing the geometric condition is presented, which included three-dimensional image capture, 3D modeling, development of theoretical models, and geometric analysis. The results revealed maximum deformations of 4 cm in the rear section of the tower and vertical deviations of 3 cm. Although these values ??do not compromise its structural stability, the lack of data related to its initial state prevented determining its temporal origin. HDS technology proved effective for accurate heritage documentation, establishing a replicable methodological framework. In conclusion, the implementation of a continuous monitoring system with reference data for future comparative analyses is recommended.
